Bitten by the loldrg bug... ganfeinniet

So I'm having some of the most fun in my ffxi career. Elvaan dragoon might be the coolest looking melee job ever... as well as being the most apt to cheating. I've leveled it faster than any job i've ever tried, excluding banging out PUP by burning the anniversary ring. First of all, I sware it's the cheapest big banger melee job by far. Basically, I've collected almost all the gear I'll ever need all the way up to lvl 70 by farming part-time. yeah... you can read that again... and laugh... or cry... or swing your fist at the screen... or throw those Wii nunchucks on purpose...
...anyway

It's sooooo cheat... I mean, the most expensive thing I've had to buy is what? Scorpion Harness? Oh yeah, I bought mine from a bazaar of a desperate thf for 185k. Woodsman ring? Price is below 200k on bismark. Err... what else is there? Not much... Everything else was between 50-100k. AF1 is not bad, and other than loading up on accuracy and attack, the weapon and the wyvern does the rest. Not to mention that as elvaan my strength is retarded. Add a little gimped /nin sub, and I've done some of the most successful soloing ever. During parties, I'm really not expected to do much other than hit, hit hard, hit fast, and don't die. There is no pulling, no backup tanking, no multiple gear sets... just plain and simple ass-kicking. ^^

So, with all this good news, certainly it isn't all selbina butter and cream. Certainly, Square Enix couldn't have been so kind to make a job so simple, fun, and easy to play, then divine waltz your butt all the way to 75. It's not possible. You're better off trying to stave off a Marid stampede with an onion sword.

Every job has some sort of major obstacle you need to overcome to get the most out of playing it. Warrior's need to max out their gear at every opportunity, as well as develop an array of subjob selections. Samurai need to somehow obtain a Hagun and an O-kote, as well as play the percent of a percent game with TP building. Blu need to find helpers to learn spells. Ninja need to get past those dreaded pre-Utsusemi: Ni levels. Puppetmaster need to ... to... well.... shutup...

Anyway...

Dragoons have to deal with that dreaded loldrg curse. Now I know most people know the origins of the curse and all that... but somehow... it persists. Persisting to an extent that even new players thing drg sux. I know it might be a pain to keep the pet alive at times... but there's no real reason to down the job. The only other job that's just as maligned that I can think of is beastmaster... XD It's crazy. LFP for hours and hours...I see Sam's and War's in my level range with their flag up, i might as well just log off. lol

Ahh... the challenge. I guess we can't really live without it... and by "can't" i really mean "heart wrenchingly painful acceptance."

I hope my moogle hasn't misplaced my reraise earring again...

/sigh

happy hunting!
